The Online Media Practitioners Association Of Nigeria, OMPAN-Delta State, has condemned statements directed at Journalists in Delta State by the immediate past commissioner for information of Delta state, Mr Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu.

According to OMPAN-DELTA ( the agglomeration of online Media in Delta State), the former Governor Okowa’s Image Manager using his Pseudo social media handlers, and his Smart tv did less than average in relationship management and positive laundering of the image of his principal. Mr Aniagwu”s deliberate efforts at divide and rule didn’t do much of a positive and the overall impact of this is distinctly clear to Deltans

Mr Aniagwu’s resilience in baseless combative attacks on
Journalists is unethical and disrespectful, the association said.

“OMPAN -DELTA read with utter dismay the press statement issued by a former Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Okowa and the immediate past Commissioner for Information to some government house press crew. In this statement, the former Commissioner scathingly used unprintable and untoward adjectives to describe Journalists.

These are people who ardently worked in the service of Deltans and promoted the former Governor, Dr Arthur Ifeanyichukwu Okowa, who only recently lost his quest to serve his people and the country as Vice President.

“We take huge exception to the divisive and disrespectful language Mr Aniagwu employed in the address. The approach of Mr Aniagwu, as shown in the press statement, is grossly unethical and utterly unacceptable, especially in this era when Online Media
has sparked unprecedented shifts in journalism; ensuring the creation, accessibility, and delivery of Just-In-Time Journalism, Today. Almost every Adult is connected to the internet and social media with digital/mobile device. The extensive use of the New Media makes it easy to forget that these technologies are relatively new to our daily lives.”

“As a former Commissioner for Information, he has the fiduciary responsibility of ensuring peace and harmony between Media practitioners and his principal, and more so, between his principal and other political leaders, rather than escalating and disaffection. The press statement simply suggests that the former Chief Press Secretary and the former Commissioner has done more disservice to the ex -Governor. Hubris is deployed rather than conflict resolution mechanism that should foster goodwill and peace between the former governor and the state Media Community.”

“We are not trying to make Mr Aniagwu the object of attention, he should desist from causing and deepening division in among Journalists in the state. It is pretty much obvious that he has shown lack of capacity to promote peaceful atmosphere in the overall interests of Deltans by a healthy media atmosphere. More importantly, Mr Aniagwu should refrain from making utterances and remarks that create irrepairable disaffection among Political leaders in the state.”
